If you have an alcoholic spouse whose drinking is affecting your marriage, then I truly believe you've landed here for a reason.
I am the wife of an alcoholic, so I DEEPLY relate to what you're going through. And even though my husband has been sober for a few years now, I still remember the pain, loneliness, confusion, and fear like it was yesterday.
That's why I created a faith-based program that was written specifically for the wife of an alcoholic by the wife of an alcoholic.
'Married to Addiction' is a private* online program that serves as the wife of an alcoholic's Survival Kit.
If you are at the end of your rope and don't know what to do next, help is here.
When I was in your situation I was DESPERATE for help, but felt like there just wasn't much available.
So God placed it on my heart to create a faith-fueled program to help the women who are right now where I once was.
Married to Addiction is a 30 day online program that is full of the tools, encouragement, and direction that I desperately needed when I was in your shoes.
Unfortunately I learned many of these lessons the hard way by doing so many things wrong, and oftentimes doing more harm than good. I unknowingly did things that hurt myself, that hurt my husband, and that further hurt my marriage. But I didn't know any better at the time.
My hope is to spare you from some of that heartache. I know how it feels to try to carry the weight of it alone. But you don’t have to.
I bet you feel like you've been on the battlefield, don't you?
You're tired. You're sad. You're angry. You're lonely. You feel defeated, and maybe even hopeless. You also might be wondering where God is in all of this.
You need comfort and healing for your soul and your spirit first and foremost. And since this is a faith-based program we are going to start there.
You are probably completely fixated on your husband's recovery if he is in the throes of addiction.
But what I didn't know was (and what you might not know is) that YOU need recovery too.....for your body, your mind, and your spirit.
Wives of alcoholics can end up experiencing trauma and even PTSD. In fact, I almost had a nervous breakdown because I ignored this for too long, so this is a very important module.
In it we will talk about some ways that you can begin to heal and look after yourself before more damage is done. You will also learn how to bring some peace back into your life while protecting your mental health.
I learned SO many things about addiction by taking this involuntary journey with my husband.
You may have heard that there is nothing you can do about your husband's addiction, and while that might be true for some aspects of it there are definitely some better....and some much worse....ways to go about things.
In this module we will talk about lessons learned through my personal experience with my husband as well as those I learned by actively participating during both his treatment and his recovery.
You have likely heard of coping mechanisms such as accepting what you can't change, setting boundaries, and detaching with love, but those things might feel almost impossible to do right now. Or maybe you are open to doing them, but don't really know how.
In this module we will unpack both these and other helpful practices that can take you from feeling like you're drowning in your husband's addiction to experiencing some much-needed relief and a renewed sense of strength.
As we wrap up I will leave you with several additional resources such as organizations, programs, books, etc that will help you greatly as you move courageously forward!
There is also an end of program wrap up in this module.
A: This program is for any woman who is married to a man whose drinking is negatively affecting her marriage or her life. (The only exception is women who are in an abusive relationship. If there is any type of abuse taking place in your marriage I encourage you to get to a safe environment first and foremost.)
A: The program is housed on an easy-to-use program platform. You would simply log in to the platform to go through the modules and lessons. It is very user-friendly and self-explanatory.
A: The charge will be discreetly billed as 'Women's Ministries'. If you are concerned about confidentiality it is also suggested that you sign up with an email address that only you have access to since that is where the log-in credentials for the program will be sent.
A: Yes, this program is private. Once you log into the program that area is completely your own. The only exception is the answers to the quiz questions, which I alone can see. This enables me to offer feedback when needed. If you would rather not share your answers with me you can just write them in a journal instead and then enter any character in the answer box to continue.
A: Each lesson should take only a few minutes a day. It is designed to be a 30 day program, with one lesson being completed each day, but if you don't move at that pace then it would obviously take a bit longer than 30 days to get through the entire program.
A: The program does regularly mention a relationship with God because that was a very big part of my journey, but you do not need to already have a close relationship with Him to benefit from this program.
I tried to handle/manage my husband's addiction and all of the fallout from it by myself, and it was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made.
There is help. There is hope. And I would be honored to play a part in guiding you there.
I hope to see you inside the program.
In His Grace, Julie
